What I Will Do When I Take Office

As Governor during the 2008 Legislative Session, I will ask the Legislature
• To approve the Kentucky Small Business Investment Program to increase household incomes.
• For the authority to create a commission to recommend ways to reduce the cost of living and the cost of doing business in Kentucky.
• For the authority to create a commission to study the health care system in Kentucky and recommend ways to operate differently to reduce costs.
• For the authority to create a commission to review the Family Court system and recommend how to re-orient it to benefit children and be less costly for parents.
• For the authority to form a team to develop the details for my plan to insure your operator's license rather than cars for $29.95 per month.
• For the authority to establish a commission to identify the challenges faced by those with special needs, including the homeless, and to recommend solutions to those problems.
• To increase the pay for teachers and state workers.
• To provide additional funding to improve educational facilities throughout the state.
• To eliminate the Alternative Minimum Calculation.
• For the authority to create a commission to review the workers compensation system and recommend how we can operate differently to reduce costs.
I will later call for special sessions, as needed, to implement recommendations from the commissions.
