Unfair Laws, Regulations, and Rules
Everyone is to be treated equally under the law, and the power of government should not be used to benefit one person or group over another. This concept of fairness and equal treatment seems to have been abandoned with many of the laws and regulations we have today. Fairness and equality have taken a back seat to special interests.
My son, Travis, was involved in an accident while riding his 4-wheeler one day. He was not at fault, but he was given a ticket anyway because he was on a 4-wheeler. This is not right. I will change the law that created this situation.
Prisoners are not allowed to smoke in some of our jails. This is not right. People who are dependent upon smoking need a cigarette now and then. There will be no smoke-free jails in Kentucky while I am Governor.
The Alternative Minimum Calculation is an unfair tax in my opinion because it disproportionately harms small businesses, forcing some to have to borrow money to pay their taxes. This is more than unfair, it is unreasonable.
If you believe that a law, regulation, or other rule is unfair, I would like to hear about it. Send me a letter.
