Roads
On this page (under contruction) you will find a video we made of where I was almost killed by a falling tree on Sand Hill, KY 160. This is one of the worst roads in southeastern Kentucky along with US 421, the Tony Turner Memorial Highway. This roadway needs to be completely redone and the trees cleared from both sides. I feel that God saved my life on this road so I could help the state of Kentucky.
We went to the Kentucky Transportaion Cabinet in Frankfort and they are supplying maps of every road in every county in the entire state of Kentucky. As I tour the state, I will be using those maps to identify problem roads. I will cut the trees 50 feet back on both sides of the road, away from the highways and all power lines. I'll bring a crusher that will cost approximately $400,000 that will crush those trees into sawdust. I'll be asking the prisoners in the state to assist with this program, and they will be paid a fair price. I think if the trees are removed, you will be able to see around the curves better and our roads will be safer.
Homes that are caving in on the sides of Kentucky roads will be torn down.
I will put four crews out on the highways every day painting the lines: One in Western Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky and Southern Kentucky, so people with glasses like myself can see better. I want more bridges built, rebuilt, and the dead-man curves removed the states. This will create small companies and create jobs.
It was my dream in 2003 that all toll roads in the state of Kentucky were to be closed, and because of this little country boy running for governor in 2003, there are no toll roads in the state of Kentucky today. The first speech that I gave in Frankfort was to close the toll roads in the state.
It was told to me that Jodie Richards had spoken with Hal Rogers about closing three of the toll roads. Hal Rogers, who I think is a great, great man, closed three of them. I think that Hal Rogers is a good ole' boy, but I want the toll roads changed back to the Daniel Boone Parkway ... or they can call it "Otis and Jodie and Hal's Parkway". Ernie Fletcher had closed the last two toll roads and that fulfilled my dream: that Kentucky can drive free. I do want to thank Ernie Fletcher for closing those toll roads, becuase I felt that toll roads were a dishonor and disgrace to the state of Kentucky.
