Education

      Some of my main concerns are building more schools and school additions, fixing the roads around schools, and making sure that the students have what they need. The playground equipment, the baseball fields, the football fields, the heating and cooling, and the roofs are major parts of my concern.

      I believe that school teachers are the most caring and nicest people in the world. I know that they need a raise. Back when the 15,000 school teachers went on strike in Frankfort, I was there with them. The state police and state workers got a 5 percent increment, and I don't understand why the school teachers can't get the same increment.

      I also understand that teachers are overburdened with administrative work due to the many laws and regulations that constrain the field of education. I will push to form a committee to identify ways to streamline our education system with a primary focus on creating an environment to improve student learning and freeing teachers to spend more time teaching and less time on paperwork.

      I do want to visit as many schools in Kentucky as I possibly can before the state primary. If anyone wants me to come to their school, send me the name and where it is located and I'll come visit.
